Why is fire door compliance important?
The Regulatory Reform Order (Fire Safety Order) 2005 states that the ‘responsible person’ of any buildings open to the public need to ensure that all fire safety equipment is fit for purpose. This includes fire doors. You face fines or prison sentences if found guilty of having fire safety equipment that is faulty or poorly maintained. The Responsible Person can only be sure that their fire doors are compliant if they employ a fire door inspector (competent person) to assess them professionally.
